COVID 19: Kwara State Govt Bans Congregational Eid El-Kabir Prayers

  • The Theual congregational Eid- ul- Adha prayers to mark this year Eid el- kabir has been cancelled throughout Kwara state.

The Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Technical Committee on COVID-19 Mr. Kayode Alabi, announced this at a news briefing in Ilorin.

Alabi said the decision was taken in the public interest to curtail the spread of covid 19 in the state.

He noted that though the Friday Jumat prayers had been restored, but must also be observed in strict compliance with the rules of physical distancing and the use of face mask.

The Deputy governor said all recreational centres such as Kwara Mall (ShopRite), the Amusement Park, all shops and markets and Unilorin Zoological Garden are to be shut on the Eid Day and the day after .

Religious leaders from both the Christianity and Islamic faith, the representatives of the Emir of Ilorin and the state Commissioner of Police were I attendance.
